I'm looking to purchase a CPU that can run lag-free Minecraft Hamachi server. Information technology will be a small-scale server where me and my buddies (five-half dozen) volition be hanging out and building. What would be the best cheap (nether $120) option to go for? I was looking at FX-6300 and i3. Merely I think the FX-6300 would exist better for this due to more cores. I volition besides be having 8 GB of retentivity.
So my question is, exercise more cores matter? Volition it provide less lag? Or is it about the memory? Delight experience free to go out any comments, positive or negative, anything is appreciated.

I did a speedtest.cyberspace and the results were 31 ping, four Mbps download speed and 0.55 upload speed. That's pretty bad but this is the same speed my friend with mid-end PC had and the server was running smoothly.
Yes, and as I said, it'southward not enough for a server. Your internet connection is the cause of lag, not the computer. Hosting the server does not require much power. A command line Linux server volition run on a 10 year quondam hardware, and easily handle 10+ people. If you strip your workstation downward it will easily host the server.
Processing isn't the issue, you tin't upload the information to the clients considering of the net connection.
If y'all are hosting and other people are sharing your connexion, it volition kill your server besides.

Lag will depend on the internet connection more than than anything, software runs on the client side. The LAN server requires any dual cadre processor.
The minimum requirement is a Pentium Two for a dedicated server, so yous'll be fine with anything. You could probably just run information technology in a dedicated virtual machine without any issue. I'd just go for the i3 or the lowest power consuming processor you tin can find.
I'd become with the 6 core FX fleck and iv - 8 GB of RAM. About of this is for the OS though. You could probably use a Server 2008 R2 core and run information technology control line with fewer resources.

I don't think it'due south all about the Internet speed, because my friend with a mid-end PC (FX-6100) built a Hamachi server and nosotros could've had about 5-six players without lags or anything. Now my friend with a crappy laptop built a Hamachi server and if 2 players play at the same fourth dimension it crashes. Dunno why.

I don't call up it'south all about the Internet speed, because my friend with a mid-end PC (FX-6100) congenital a Hamachi server and we could've had near v-half-dozen players without lags or anything. At present my friend with a crappy laptop built a Hamachi server and if two players play at the same time it crashes. Dunno why.
How fast is his UPLOAD speed? two Mbps?
Y'all demand fast upload speed, it's 100% about the upload on your internet connection.

Where I live we're limited to 4 Mbps. Unless nosotros pay more for 8 Mbps. They both accept the aforementioned Cyberspace speed, both of them had 500 KB/s when downloading from ....something I can't mention here.

Exactly, information technology'due south limited considering Isp'due south don't like when people host servers. That is cause of your lag, non operation.
